The Railway Bogie Washing Plant developed by Nexon Automation is a washing system that is developed specifically for the efficient washing of locomotive, tram and metro bogies and the loose parts which are preferably placed on service trolleys. This enhanced system guarantees cleaning of bogies through high pressure water jets plus a technique that is prohibitive to environmental influences as it is highly mechanized. The plant is flexible and can be adjusted according to the specific layout of the workshop and the type of energy used and it is ideal for maintenance for railway and other public transport systems.

Bogie/Coach Washing Plant Technical Specifications:

Washing Pressure 8 to 10 bar (with optional high-pressure heads up to 140 bar)
Energy Source Options Electric, gas, petrol, steam power, or overheated water for heating the washing solution
Tank Capacity Two tanks, one for the washing solution and one for rinsing, with flexible positioning (above ground or in a technical pit)
Automation Fully automated loading and unloading mechanism with motorized doors and automatic shifting system for the bogies
Control System PLC-based control with remote and on-site management capabilities, data logging, and reporting features
Safety Features The plant is equipped with safety interlocks and an exhaust blower to remove vapors and fumes from the washing cabinet during operation

Railway Bogie Washing Plant Key Features:

  • Drive-Through Two-Access Door Plant: The plant has two access doors for integration in a production line with provision for bogie shifting mechanism that facilitates the mechanism of entry and exit in the production line. This is particularly suitable for applications where frequently and for a long period of time a surface is touched, to allow the possibility of an even and enduring cleaning.
  • High-Volume Water and Pressure: Water consumption for softening of dirt and contaminants is strictly used a high amount of water head with washing pressure ranging from 8-10 bar to ensure proper washing of bogie surfaces.
  • Fixed Spray Poles: The washing and rinsing cycles are performed by the fixed spray poles arranged in the washing cabin. These poles provide maintaining a constant pressure of water and area coverage to keep all the bogie surfaces clean.
  • Two-Tank System: The plant comprises of two tanks one being the washing solution and the second one being the rinsing water. This means that this dual-tank system is capable of optimizing the amount of washing and rinsing fluids used with an opportunity of the recovery and reusing of the fluids to minimize the environmental effects.
  • Flexible Tank Positioning: Tanks can be Surface mounted and if the space available is limited, it can be installed in a technical pit below the flooring level. Since the pumps, filters and others plant components and subsystems are adjacent to the cabin, cleaning and monitoring them becomes easy and effective.
  • Variable-Speed Shifting System: The bogie is translocated in and out of the washing cabin by a shifting system which is automated and adjustable to different speeds thus enabling appropriate positioning of the bogie to produce uniform washing process.
  • Swinging Mechanism: In that cycle, the bogie translates in the traveling direction back and forth within the travel limits to enable the nozzles wash across all the faces thereby effectively cleaning the most inconspicuous areas.

Advanced Features:

  • Heated Washing Solution: It still opts to use heated washing solution to enhance the process of washing thereby producing the best results. The solution can be heated using power such as electrical power, gas power, petrol power, steam power or power from overheated water according to the available resources in the workshop.
  • Optional Heated Rinsing Water: To get an even better rinse, the plant can be fitted with a way to heat the rinse water, so as to increase cleaning power against contaminants and other residue.
  • Solution Recycling and Filtration: The washing solution and the rinsing water where ever possible are processed and recycled so as to reduce harm to the environment. The process also has a filtration process in order to reuse the washing solution as long as possible, an oil skimmer is optional.
  • PLC-Based Control and Supervision: The entire plant is operated with a programmable logic controller-based system for local as well as centralized control.
  • Customizable Configuration: In case of confined space, the one door washing plant is used and bogie shifting has to be done by hand. In this configuration, there is only a single mobile wash brush pole which is used for washing as well as rinsing; which requires relative movement in relationship to the bogie and the water jet.
  • High-Pressure Rotating Heads: For applications that need more mechanical cleaning, the plant can be fitted with a high-pressure rotatable head (up to 140 bar), providing better cleaning to very dirty bogies.

Applications :

  • Locomotive, Tram, and Metro Bogies: Designed for cleaning bogies of different sizes and layout including passenger cars and transit cars as well as metro bogies.
  • Loose Parts Cleaning: It can also be used to clean free-on-carriage parts and equipment put on service trolleys; an important feature that gives it lots of applications in the rail industry.
  • Rebuild and Maintenance Facilities: Ideal for institutions that engage in normal maintenance, inspection, and regeneration of bogies to acceptable hygiene levels.

Why Choose Nexon’s Bogie Washing Plant? :

  • Comprehensive Cleaning: This is enhanced by the plant offering the best washing through the provision of high-volume water, and high-pressure nozzles, to ensure that the bogies are completely washed with all the necessary contaminant removed.
  • Customizable Solutions: Depending on the model of the plant, the customer can choose energy sources, tank position, additional accessories such as high-pressure rotating heads, with heated rinse water.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Through using recycled and reused water and cleaning solutions, the plant proves to have low impact on the environment while providing high cleaning standards.
  • Remote and On-Site Management: The PLC control system can be operated internally or from a distance enabling the teams of maintenance to use the system easily.
